Problems with drawing

Question

I seem to have encountered a graphics glitch using v 6.04. I have been bending a plane power singlet to introduce SA and CMA. When I draw the lens the rays are refracted at the front surface but appear to project back at the second surface. To check this, enter any radius of surface 1, and an axial solve =0 at surface 2. I used a 2mm thickness and bk7 glass. Draw the lens. Am I correct?

In my previous message, the lens mode was focal. When I use afocal, rays are transmitted. Nevertheless, shouldn't rays be drawn to a specified final distance in focal mode?

Solution

"It appears to work properly in focal as well as a focal mode. Please explore the following items. Making use of them might help you get a display you are expecting to see:
  • Try putting a positive distance after the 2nd lens surface
  • Click on the menu item lens>>lens drawing conditions. Note the phrase "Image space rays" (5 lines down from the top of this dialog and all the way to the right). To the right of this is a button with a pull-down menu. Note that you can pick another criterion for drawing the rays in image space. Try "Draw rays to image surface" and observe what happens (in some systems there will be no change - it depends on how your system is defined).
  • Note that this dialog can also be found by right-clicking on the "Draw system (2D plan view)" window and then choosing "recalculate using new parameters>> conditions and rays"."
