Fixing OSLO to automatically open when you are opening lens files
Question
After performing some work on my system, I found the icons for all my lens files(*.len & *.osl) are missing in my computer folders. Additionally, if I right-click any lens file and choose "Open With>>Choose Program", I find there is no OSLO program available in the installed program list. Therefore, I cannot double-click my lens files to open them with OSLO. How do I fix this situation?
Synopsis
Fixing OSLO to automatically open when you are opening lens files
Symptoms
This problem was caused by an error in the OSLO 6.3 installation program and will be resolved in the OSLO 6.3.1 Update. You can try workaround #1, but if that does not work we recommend trying directly editing the Windows registry as described in Workaround #2.
Workaround
WORKAROUND #1 (try first):
Choose "Open With" or "Open With>>Choose Program" as you did before.
In the "Open With" dialog, click on the "Browse" button and locate the version of OSLO 6.3 that you want associated with *.len files. Clicking "Open" in this browsing dialog will place OSLO in the list of available/installed programs of the previous "Open With" dialog.
When back in the "Open With" dialog, remember to click the checkbox "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" before clicking on "OK".
WORKAROUND #2 (if workaround #1 does not work): You can fix the file association and icon display by creating a Registry file and importing it into the registry. If you are experienced in working with the registry you can do this by hand but be careful. We will be happy to email the appropriate file on request.
Select the section below that corresponds to the edition of OSLO you are using, Premium, Standard, Light or EDU.
Copy the text between the dashes and paste it into a text file. You can use Notepad or UltraEdit.
Save the file to any file name with an extension of .reg, perhaps "OSLO.reg".
Locate the file and double-click on the file to import the data into the registry.
