Lambda Research Releases TracePro 26.3 with New Section View

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lambda Research Releases TracePro 26.3 with New Section View

Latest release adds cut-away model inspection and updates across analysis, CAD interoperability, automation, and optical modeling workflows

WESTFORD, Mass., September 4, 2026: Lambda Research Corporation has released TracePro 26.3, the latest version of its optical and illumination design software. The release introduces Section View and includes 33 updates since TracePro 26.2, with changes spanning model inspection, analysis accuracy, CAD interoperability, automation, and day-to-day engineering workflows.

Inspect Internal Geometry with Section View

The new Section View gives engineers a rendered cut-away view of a TracePro model. Users can section a model on the XY, XZ, or YZ coordinate plane, move the cutting plane through the geometry, add transparency, snap to an orthogonal view, and zoom to the full model.

Objects selected in Section View are also selected in the Model Window, and vice versa. This makes it easier to identify and work with components that may be difficult to locate in Silhouette View or Rendered View, particularly in assemblies with nested or closely packed geometry.

Expanded Automation and Model Control

TracePro 26.3 adds the Scheme macro command view:reload-source-tree. The command refreshes the source tree after changes are made with other Scheme commands, supporting more reliable scripted workflows without requiring a manual refresh.

The release also corrects issues affecting Sequence Editor file saving, OSLO lens-file interpretation, Interactive Optimizer output, and lenses whose second surface uses different semi-diameter, decenter, or tilt settings.

CAD and Optical Data Updates

TracePro 26.3 includes fixes across imported and exported engineering data. The release corrects wavelength conversion for private glass data imported from Code V, preserves the display of custom object colors through STEP export and import, prevents inserted STEP parts from renaming existing model parts, and addresses corrupted geometry from imported ACIS SAT files.

The release also corrects the loss of SOLIDWORKS colors when opening an OML file from RayViz and updates the OHARA glass catalogs. TracePro 26.3 includes KOSMOS 8.0.17985.

Analysis and Visualization Corrections

Several updates address analysis accuracy and visualization. These include corrections to smoothed 3D irradiance maps, absorbed-flux display in irradiance maps, octree voxels in TracePro LC, candela plot updates, and unit changes in Polar Iso-Candela plots.

TracePro 26.3 also improves keyboard navigation in tabular analysis views, including the Flux Report, Property Report, Incident Ray Table, Ray History, and Path Sort Table. Additional fixes cover silhouette-edge display, transparency with custom surface colors, torus-surface display and ray tracing near edges, and property-report saving when a surface source property is applied.
