Question
How can I export Irradiance Data to CAD programs?
Synopsis
Exporting Irradiance Data to CAD programs.
Solution
The Irradiance map output data may be saved to a disk file in a variety of file formats. Selecting File|Save As when an irradiance map is active will display a File Save AS dialog box. Selecting the DXF file option saves the irradiance data to a DXF file.
For typical plots, each pixel in the irradiance data will be written as a square patch in X and Y with the irradiance value defining Z. For contour plots, the irradiance data is sampled to construct POLYLINEs with positions in X and Y where Z is defined by the contour levels.
DXF files can be used with several CAD programs including AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Microsoft Word cannot use 3D DXF files.
