Cleanliness standards

Question

When I attended the recent TracePro training course, there was mention of references that related surfaces cleanliness levels (specified by MIL-STD-1246C) to cleanroom classifications (specified by FED-209D).
What I am looking for is research that was published on how to link MIL-STD-1246 surface cleanliness to cleanroom class and exposure time. I.e. how to predict what cleanliness level a surface will have after a given time in a cleanroom of a given class. I don't recall who mentioned it, but I was hoping that Ed or someone else there would know how to find it.
