Lambda Research Corporation will host its next international TracePro training program from September 16–18, 2026, at TH Köln’s Deutz Campus in Cologne, Germany.

Delivered in English, this instructor-led program is designed for optical engineers, researchers, designers, and technical professionals who want to improve their ability to model, analyze, optimize, and automate optical systems using TracePro. The training combines technical instruction with guided, hands-on exercises suitable for both new and experienced users.

Build a Strong TracePro Foundation

The first two days provide a comprehensive introduction to TracePro. Participants will develop a complete model, beginning with geometry import and creation before applying optical properties, defining sources, performing ray tracing, and analyzing simulation results. The course will then progress to advanced capabilities, including custom property creation, importance sampling, advanced ray-trace settings, analysis tools, TracePro utilities, and workflow automation using the Scheme macro language.

Explore Optical System Optimization

The third day focuses on optimization with TracePro. Participants will learn the principles behind optical optimization and receive a practical overview of the Interactive Optimizer. Hands-on examples will demonstrate how to create geometry, define variables and performance targets, and optimize systems involving lenses, reflectors, and light guides. The course will also address tolerancing and the selection of surface and material properties to meet defined engineering objectives.

Training Details

The training will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day:

September 16–17: Introduction to TracePro
September 18: Optimization with TracePro

Tuition includes course materials, access to a computer with TracePro installed, refreshments, beverages, and lunch. Attendees are responsible for arranging their own accommodations.

Reserve Your Place

This training provides an opportunity to strengthen your TracePro knowledge through direct instruction, practical exercises, and real optical design examples.
