Texture file fails to read

Question

I edited a Texture file in Excel, saved it as a text file, then tried to use it in TracePro, but I get an error message that TracePro fails to read the Texture File. How can I resolve this?

Synopsis

Texture file fails to read

Solution

Open the Texture File in a Text Editor application (e.g. - NotePad or Notepad++). The 4th line of the file header is the Version. The Version should be of the format 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0, but when it is saved from Excel it is truncated to 1, 2, or 3. Edit the file to include the ".0", save, and TracePro should read the file correctly.
