Question
Do you have directions for setting up Fresnel lens in OSLO?
Synopsis
Setting up a Fresnel Lens
Solution
- Follow the Landscape Lens tutorial to get acquainted with the OSLO interface.
- Set up the lens system you want by entering the appropriate lens curvatures, thicknesses, air spaces, glasses, ...etc. Model the Fresnel surface as a regular lens surface with the curvature and aspheric departure (if any) that you want.
- To convert a "real" surface to a "Fresnel" surface, set the Fresnel parameter on that desired surface:
- In the SPECIAL column of the Surface Data spreadsheet, choose "Surface Control(F) >> General" and set "Fresnel Surface" = "Yes".
- If you want the Fresnel to be placed on a curved surface, enter the Base Curvature and Base Conic Constants here.
- If you want the Fresnel lens substrate to be flat, leave the Base variables as zero.
Please note that OSLO calculates a "perfect" Fresnel lens surface. It has an infinite number of "facets" or "zones" which have no depth of their own. If you want to explicitly model individual facets of a Fresnel lens, you will need to use the non-sequential surface option in OLSO Premium.
