TracePro Feature Tutorials | Lambda Research

Written by Admin | Aug 30, 2021, 4:00:00 AM

Use these TracePro tutorials and technical notes to explore individual modeling and analysis features. The collection covers source data, luminance, importance sampling, diffraction, fluorescence, photometric data, LEDs, and structured backlights. If you are new to the software, complete the introductory exercise first so you are familiar with opening a model and running a basic ray trace.

Download each PDF from the existing links below. Several topics also include example models or property files so you can follow the workflow in TracePro.

Creating Ray Files: Learn how to save ray data at a surface and use it as a source in another trace or model. The tutorial also explains how measured or externally generated ray data can be brought into TracePro.

Luminance Map Example: Follow a simple glass-sphere and checkerboard model to learn how TracePro creates a luminance map. Downloadable model and property files are included for both checkerboard examples.

Auto Importance Sampling: Learn how TracePro can define importance-sampling targets automatically for the surfaces in an optical prescription. The included double Gauss lens model demonstrates the setup for an imaging system.

Diffraction Gratings: Create a grating surface property, define the efficiency of each diffraction order, apply the property to a model surface, and trace the resulting diffracted paths.

Fluorescence Property Utility for White LED Design: See how excitation, absorption, emission, and LED spectral data can be used to create a fluorescence material property for white LEDs and other energy-converting materials.

Fluorescence Property Generator - Improved Predictive Modeling Of White LEDs

IES/LDT Analysis: Import measured photometric data in IES or LDT format and use it to generate TracePro file sources and surface source properties. A sample IES file is included.

Import ANSI_IESNA Photometric Data To TracePro: This technical note gives additional background on the ANSI/IESNA format and TracePro's photometric-data import workflow.

Surface Source Property Generator - Model And Predict The Performance Of LEDs For Solid State Lighting

Texture Optimizer - Optimize Structured LCD Backlight Components
