The opsira GmbH goniometers record angular dependent photometric parameters around a light source, a luminaire, a detector or a material sample. We offer uniaxial In-Plane goniometers as well as 3D-goniometers up to 4 axes. The compact construction of the goniometer type gonio’2π allows a measurement of the upper half sphere. The 4-axis goniometer enables a fully automated complete measurement of an anisotropic scatter sample. The gonio’4 π is available for full sphere measurements without turning the sample. About 99.5% of the complete 4 π solid angle can be measured. All goniometer types work with an angular accuracy of 0.0001°.
The solid construction as well as the direct drive concept introduced and consequently implemented by the opsira GmbH guarantee a very high precision of the goniometer systems.
Photometers and radiometers, the luca luminance measurement systems, the spectral measurement systems spec’3 and SPR’3 as well as high quality photomultipliers are available as detectors.
Goniometer Software gonio'tool
The basic goniometer software, gonio’tool, enables the implementation and evaluation of a measurement at any solid angle areas and resolutions. Here it is possible to vary the measurement resolution in areas of higher dynamics and higher importance.
Depending on the detector system different software components are used:
gonio'luca for goniometric records of luminance measurements with the luca systems.
luca’rayset for the calculation of 3D ray data from the goniometric luminance measurements of a light source carried out by gonio’luca. The ray data can easily be converted into the formats of all current optics simulation programs. goniorsquo;spec for the goniometric record of spectral measurements with the systems spec’3 or SPR’3.

gonio'remote - The software interface gonio’remote opens the goniometer software for remote control. gonio’remote provides an easy control of the gonio functionality via TCP/IP and the flexible system integration into user-specific test environments or measurement applications.

Measurement of Light Sources: We measure the far-field of small light sources or luminaires with our photometer sytem FRC’3, the near-field with a luminance measurement system of our luca family.
Adding the spec’3 system, angular dependent spectral measurements of the samples are possible and it is easy to analyze color aberrations caused by dispersion in optics or color shifts of white LEDs.
Measurement of Luminaires with luca'lux: The luca’lux measurement of luminaires with wide emission angles would need a rather large reflection wall. One or two gonio axes, however, keep the measuring screen small. A concrete example is the measurement of airfield lightings with the system luca’lux – ALTS (airfield lighting test system).
Measurement of Opto-Detectors: For a successful design of opto-sensoric systems the angular dependent reception parameters of the opto-detectors are of the same importance as the angular dependent characteristics of light sources. Placing the detectors in the centre of the goniometer and driving around the detectors with a light or radiation source delivers reliable data of the angular responsitivity.
