Lambda Research Corporation Announces Current Release of TracePro® Version 7.7.2

Littleton, MA, USA – Lambda Research Corporation, a leading designer and publisher of illumination and optical design software, announces the current of the latest version of its flagship TracePro software. The latest release, TracePro v7.7.2, is now available to the general public.

Updated features in TracePro 7.7.2 are a new Candela Plot Viewer and a Lighting Toolkit designed mainly for automotive applications. The Candela Plot Viewer allows previously-saved angular plots and simulation-mode ray-traces to be viewed, giving users access to the luminous intensity of previous designs. Depending on user selections in the Candela Options dialog box, TracePro can plot intensity for incident rays, exiting rays, or rays that miss all the model geometry during the ray-trace as Candela data.

The Lighting Toolkit gives TracePro users a full-featured capability to analyze lighting systems, including luminaires and automotive headlamps, tail lamps, warning lamps, and marker lamps. The Lighting Toolkit provides visualization tools and regulation tables to certify that simulated results meet the requirements of the lighting and automotive standards and provides pass/fail criteria for ECE, SAE, IESNA, and FMVSS regulations.

Also included in the TracePro 7.7.2 release are improvements to the photorealistic rendering capability by enhancing contrast control with a gamma slider, display of luminance values, and faster renderings. These improvements to photorealistic renderings enable designers to have a more accurate, three-dimensional visualization of the performance of their luminaire or light pipe design.

Lastly, this latest release makes better use of internal memory on computer workstations by enabling users to choose whether they would like to use Simulation or Analysis Modes for ray tracing. This flexibility enables users to rapidly and accurately simulate results in less time and with minimal use of system resources. TracePro in Analysis mode is, and has always been, the only optical software program to automatically compute and save every intersection of rays with surfaces. For users who want maximum results and full control of the full ray tracing process, Analysis Mode allows them to track every ray-surface intersection, visualize rays per user-defined criteria, and plot 3D irradiance/illuminance on every user-selected surface. Alternatively, Simulation mode only remembers ray intersections on those surfaces denoted by the user
as important, which uses a great deal less memory and allows users to trace billions of rays
if necessary.

TracePro 7.7.2 offers the most powerful and sophisticated illumination design software available for LED implementation in lamps and luminaires. TracePro streamlines the prototype-to-manufacturing process by combining an intuitive 3D CAD interface, superior ray tracing performance, advanced utilities, and seamless interoperability with other mechanical design programs.

Current users are encouraged to download the latest release here. New users can sign up for a free 30-day trail which includes a live demonstration with an engineer.
