Littleton, MA, USA – April 2, 2014 – Lambda Research Corporation, the leading designer and publisher of illumination and optical design software, has enhanced the RepTile™ (Repetitive Tile) Texture utility in the latest release of its flagship software product, TracePro®.
TracePro's RepTile features are an on-the-fly surface creation feature that defines and creates repetitive microstructures on any planar surface. RepTile is a convenient, easy-to-use function that reduces the time it takes to build and modify a structure by allowing easy modeling of many different geometry types as a set of thousands, millions, or even billions of repetitive surfaces that can be defined using uniform, parametric, or file-driven-data to define each feature individually.
For example, the newly added DMD RepTile feature is used to simulate the latest edge-mounted Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) chips. An enhanced DMD texture generator utility enables users to define the DMD so that patterns and textures can have correct tilts for each individual mirror. This allows users to model any pattern, or to set up tiled geometry to dynamically model any jpg or bmp image.
The solar emulator utility has been enhanced to automate setup and to simulate both aim-to-sun and uniaxial solar tracking collectors. The enhanced utility automatically simulates solar collection systems that have solar tracking capability for user-defined time periods and user-selected geographic locations.
RepTile features can also be used to quickly model and ray trace surfaces with random or periodic arrays of repeated structures, such as Brightness Enhancing Films, conic and aspheric fly-eye lens let arrays or scattering features in a light guide.
TracePro is award-winning opto-mechanical software used for design, analysis, and optimization of optical and illumination systems. With its intuitive CAD interface and powerful features like 2D/3D interactive optimizers, TracePro offers a sophisticated and powerful optical design environment combined with a short learning curve to accelerate product time-to-market.
